In the link above from The Huffington Post, Tim Johnson is referenced as an “obscure member of the party” (GOP). Thank God someone else is beginning to realize it. Johnson serves on multiple House committees, including the House Committee on Agriculture. If there was one thing I learned from my role as “Tim Johnson” in my Political Science course on the U.S. Congress, it’s that Johnson is not exactly known for towing the party line. Maybe I’m naive to believe that he votes what he believes but a man with a constituency this large can’t always vote for one portion of that constituency. And frequently doesn’t. Although he didn’t vote for the Democratic Health Plan either, at least we have a representative around these parts that may not believe in the lesser of two evils. His six children, grandchildren and I thank him for being an odd duck.
